West Bengal Cabinet Expansion: Deepak Barman, Tapas Roy, Arjun Singh Sworn In As Ministers (x)

Kolkata: Days after scripting history by forming the first-ever BJP government in West Bengal, the Suvendu Adhikari-led government on Monday expanded its cabinet. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Lok Bhavan in Kolkata at 11 am, where Governor RN Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers. 

How many ministers took oath?

A new chapter was added to West Bengal politics on Monday when the much-awaited and explosive cabinet expansion of the government led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari was completed. Governor R.N. Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to a total of 35 new ministers in a solemn ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Kolkata. 

Among the 35 MLAs who were sworn in as ministers were Arjun Singh, Tapas Roy, Saradwat Mukherjee, Jagannath Chattopadhyay and Shankar Ghosh. Other than them, Swapan Dasgupta, Dudh Kumar Mondal, Deepak Burman, Manoj Oraon and Gouri Shankar Ghosh also took oath.

What did Arjun Singh say after oath ceremony?

After taking the oath as a cabinet minister, senior BJP leader Arjun Singh on Monday expressed his readiness to assume new responsibilities. 

"I always take on new responsibilities and strive to fulfill them with complete honesty. Today, I am taking on a new responsibility. Whatever the government wants, whatever the party wants, or whatever the public expects from us, we must live up to those expectations. This is our top priority," Singh said.
